Acrobat for Print Spring 2011

Acrobat is more than just Acrobat Reader. This class taught us the versatility of PDF format and the benefits of using Acrobat to pre-flight documents for print production.

Project #1

Stickers

Our first project was to create a page of stickers. Images were printed on adhesive-backed paper and then cut using a die-cut machine. Here are some of the sticker designs.

 These are my three dogs.

I always wanted a bumper sticker like this...now I have one.

Project #2

Advertising Poster

Our second project was to create a poster advertising all the classes offered for Print Production at Palomar College.

Project #3

Business Card

Next, we created business cards. I did one for my daughter. The drawing she chose for it isn't one of my favorites...but she was the customer. :-)

Final Project

Perfect-Bound Book Cover

Our final project was to design a book cover for a perfect-bound book. The number of pages we chose to include and their content (if any) was our choice. I chose to create a book for my daughter containing all her color drawings. The next step was to choose the paper, measure its thickness, calculate the thickness of the book and then design the cover so the spine would be the perfect size.

This is the cover I created. The book, in its entirety, can be found in this blog on the page entitled, "My Passion".
