Layout for Offset Fall 2010

This class taught us how to prepare files for offset press printing. The printing was done outside of class hours, so we didn't get any hands-on experience with the process for our first three projects. However, for our final project, we mixed our own ink color and were present during the printing.

Project #1

2-Sided Postcard

Our first project was to create the front and back design for a postcard.
The design needed to conform with US Postal standards.

Project #2

T-shirt Transfer

Project #2 was to create a design for a t-shirt transfer. My image is from my daughter's artwork collection.
Having a daughter who loves to draw came in handy for several of my graphics projects. :-)

This is the reversal needed for the transfer sheet...that's why the text is backward.

Project #3

8-Page Booklet

This project was an exercise in imposition. We created 8-page booklets which were printed and folded.  All images needed to be oriented and spaced properly to produce correct positioning in the finished product.

Final Project

Stationery Set

Our final project was to design a stationery set-letterhead, envelope and business card. The precursor to this project was an assignment to design a logo. The logo would then be incorporated into the stationery design.

My logo was derived from a Chinese chop I did during my History of Graphic Communication class.
