InDesign I Fall 2010

Assignment #1

Re-Design an Advertisement

Our first assignment was to find an advertisement in the Reader magazine and then re-design it. The stipulations were that the design must be done with text or text elements only...no images,  the re-designed ad was to be exactly the same size as the original and include all the original information.

Here is my rendition.

Here is the comparison.

Assignment #2

Create a Menu

This assignment introduced us to the use of tabs and text wraps.

Assignment #3

Re-Create an Advertisement as Precisely as Possible.

For this assignment, we were handed a printed ad and asked to reproduce it. To do so required a lot of font measurement, kerning, tracking and tabs.
.

Here is the comparison between the two.

Final Project

CD Desk Calendar

Our final project was a CD desk calendar. The idea was to create 12 individual calendar cards, plus front and back cover cards. These would then be packaged in a CD case which, when opened, would serve as a stand so the calendar could sit on a desktop.

I chose a California Indian Basket theme. The images I used were from a published book. This gave me some experience with using Gaussian blur to eliminate the moire problem. The calendar grids were done using a master page.
